1. Payment Schedule & Terms

For large projects each section/stage of work is invoiced separately and must be paid in full prior to commencement.

Work will not begin until cleared payment has been received.
-
The client may stop after any section is completed without penalty.
-
The client is not required to commit to future stages at the start of our collaboration.
-
Payments are non-refundable once a section has commenced.

2. Scope of Services

Services are provided strictly in accordance with the scope outlined in the agreed proposal.

Any services outside of scope (e.g. additional rooms, extra revisions, additional 3D visuals) will be quoted separately.

Julia Downs Studio will not provide project management services for projects unless agreed otherwise.

3. Design Responsibility

Julia Downs Studio provides design concepts, specifications, and recommendations only.
-
The Designer shall exercise reasonable skill, care and diligence in performing the services, consistent with that expected of an interior designer experienced in similar projects.

All bespoke furniture, cabinetry, or joinery must be measured and verified onsite by the supplier/manufacturer.

4. Intellectual Property & Portfolio Rights

All drawings, designs, mood boards, renders, and documents remain the intellectual property of Julia Downs Studio.

The client is granted a licence to use design materials for their personal project only. They may not be reproduced, resold, or published without consent.

Julia Downs Studio reserves the right to publish design materials (e.g. moodboards, floorplans, 3D visualisations) for professional portfolio, marketing, and social media purposes. All such use will be anonymised, and no identifiable client details (names, addresses, personal references) will be disclosed.

Where photography or imagery of the completed or transformed space is proposed for publication, Julia Downs Studio will seek the client’s prior written consent before any such images are shared. The client may withhold consent without obligation, and consent may be limited to specific images or platforms.

5. Amendments & Revisions

Each section includes a defined number of reasonable amendment rounds, as specified in the proposal.

Additional revisions or major changes in direction will be treated as new work and quoted separately.

6. Timelines
-
Estimated timelines will be provided at the start of each section.

Julia Downs Studio will not be liable for delays caused by late client feedback, supplier lead times, or events beyond our control.

7. Client Responsibilities
-
The client must provide accurate information (including drawings, measurements, or access to site) as needed.
-
The client is responsible for securing any required consents (planning permission, listed building approval, landlord consent, etc.).

Timely feedback is required to maintain project progress.
-
Responsibility for ordering, manufacture, delivery, and installation of products lies with the client and/or third-party suppliers

8. Budgets & Pricing

Julia Downs Studio will recommend products and finishes within the agreed budget, but cannot guarantee final supplier pricing, stock availability, or lead times.

All supplier prices are subject to change and availability at the time of ordering.

9. Liability

Julia Downs Studio will take all reasonable care to ensure designs are accurate and aligned with the agreed vision. However, we accept no responsibility for:

Errors or delays by suppliers, contractors, or tradespeople.

Variations in colour/finish between samples, digital visuals, and actual products.
-
Incorrectly manufactured or incorrectly sized items.

The Designer does not warrant the performance, durability, or suitability of any products, materials, or contractors recommended.
-
The Designer shall not be liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of profit, or third-party claims.

10. Insurance
-
Julia Downs Studio does not insure any goods, materials, or products.

The client must arrange their own insurance cover for purchases, deliveries, and installations.

11. Termination
-
The client may stop after any section is completed without penalty.
-
Payments already received are non-refundable.

12. Dispute Resolution
-
In the event of a dispute, both parties agree to first attempt resolution amicably through direct discussion or mediation before pursuing legal action.

13. Confidentiality
-
Julia Downs Studio will treat all client information and project details as confidential, except where required for design execution (e.g. liaising with suppliers).
